It has been more than 25 years since nine committed ladies formed the Blue and White Auxiliary at the Lismore residence of Dr Bill and Margaret Brand and agreed that the Committee would specifically raise funds for Palliative Care, providing equipment for the comfort of patients in their final days.
In August 2013, the Blue and White Auxiliary celebrated 25 years of continuous service, an historic milestone which would not be complete without recognition of those individuals, business houses and organisations that have generously supported the Auxiliary from its inception as a Committee in August 1988, continuing to this present day.
In order to purchase items for the Palliative Care Unit at St Vincent’s Lismore and for Community Palliative Care, the Auxiliary have held numerous fundraising functions over the years including garden parties, fashion parades, bowls days and spring lunches to name just a few. Selling raffle tickets in the community has played a major part of their fundraising efforts.
Although still relatively small, the Blue and White Auxiliary has raised over $300,000 and continues to maintain an enthusiastic work ethic and focused approach in their fundraising for the Palliative Care unit at St Vincents Private Hospital and for those who wish to stay in their homes.
Volunteers are always needed. For information on how you can help this very valuable auxiliary please contact:
