Palliative Care

St Vincent's 2-36St Vincent’s Palliative Care Service is unique in that the private and public health care sector and the local community work together to provide a 24-hour, seven day per week service to patients, their families and carers.

The North Coast Area Health Service (NCAHS) provides funding for public patients.  The Blue & White Auxiliary, a volunteer organisation dedicated to raising funds for Palliative Care, continues to provide support in the way of equipment and additional services.

The Palliative Care Team works closely with General Practitioners to provide quality care, compassion and support. The support mechanism also includes a team of specially trained volunteers.

This excellent service comprises a 9-bed unit at St Vincent’s Lismore complemented by a comprehensive community consultative service funded by the Commonwealth Government.

The service provides co-ordination with other services and includes advice on pain and symptom control, spiritual, emotional and bereavement support along with after hours care for registered patients.
